Grassland: Origin and Persistence

Join us on April 27 at 3:30 for an exhibition and conversation with Philip Heying and Tony Capizzo about the value of our remaining grasslands and their place in a changing planet.

Philip Heying is a photographer living in Matfield Green who was awarded a Guggenheim fellowship for his work exploring the culture and ecology of the surrounding prairie. “The basic premise of this work is that I believe we need new stories about our place in the world and how we act in it. These new stories need to shift our values to be inclusive of all the things we currently only consider as ‘externalities.’”

Tony Capizzo is the Flint Hills Initiative Manager for The Nature Conservancy.

Light refreshments will be served following the conversation.

The Exhibition will remain on view from April 27-June 8 and can be viewed on Saturdays from 8-12, Thursdays from 1-5, or by appointment.
